Dementia Adventure
October 7 2016Dementia Adventure is a registered charity dedicated to supporting people with dementia to get outdoors, connect with nature, themselves and their community, and retain a sense of adventure in their lives.
Dementia Adventure work in partnership with individuals and organisations across the UK so that all people living with dementia can have a sense of adventure in their lives regardless of where they live.
They provide small group holidays for people living with dementia and their carers to enjoy together. This is designed as an alternative to traditional respite which can be stressful for many people living with dementia.
By raising funds they significantly reduce the cost of their fully supported dementia holidays and making a holiday possible for somebody who might otherwise not be able to afford it.
Through their training and consultancy services they work with other organisations to help equip them with the evidence, skills and confidence to give people greater choices and live better with dementia.
They also provide free dementia training for family carers.
Their work is grounded in research and they collaborate with academic institutions and the public sector to advance and contribute to the growing evidence-base for being physically active within nature and the benefits it brings to people living with dementia.
