The guide offers tips on things to look out for, including patterns or changes in behaviour that may indicate when someone is experiencing discomfort. It includes advice for relieving pain and distress, including ways to spot problems before they become serious.

It follows on from NCPC’s 2011 publication, Difficult Conversations for dementia, which provides advice on how to talk to people with dementia about their end of life wishes.
