National Diabetes Audit
September 29 2014The National Diabetes Audit (NDA) is a major national clinical audit, which measures the effectiveness of diabetes healthcare against NICE Clinical Guidelines and NICE Quality Standards, in England and Wales.
The NDA is delivered by the Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC), in partnership with Diabetes UK. It collects and analyses data and produces reports for a range of stakeholders to use to drive changes and improve the quality of services and health outcomes for people with diabetes.
The NDA includes five distinct areas of diabetes care, treatment and outcome. Further information can be found on the HSCIC website, using the links below:
- National Diabetes Core Audit (NDA): Now in its tenth year, this annual audit of primary care and specialist diabetes services covers care processes, treatment targets, complications and mortality.
- National Diabetes Inpatient Audit (NaDIA): This is a snapshot audit of every hospital covering inpatient care of people with diabetes. Findings have led to the Diabetes Mortality and Morbidity project, run by Diabetes UK and other parties, which aims to reduce harms to inpatients with diabetes.
- National Pregnancy in Diabetes (NPID) Audit: This audit examines antenatal services for women with pre-gestational diabetes.
- Patient Experience of Diabetes Services Survey (PEDS): The diabetes patient experience survey was piloted in 2013.
- National Diabetes Audit of Footcare (NDFA): This audit collects data about specialist foot care services for people with diabetes.
